Introduction
As part of the WPCredits program, one of my first tasks was to build a personal website where I would document my learning process and contributions to the WordPress community. At first, I thought this would be a simple task, but it eventually became the most challenging part of the entire project.
My Experience
When I started working with WordPress, I was introduced to an interface that was completely new to me. I had to learn how to create pages, organize content, and build a website that was easy to navigate.
To get started, I searched for tutorials online that explained how to build a WordPress website from scratch. Unfortunately, many of the videos I found were outdated or relied on paid plugins and tools that I couldn’t use for this project.
After exploring different options, I decided to use an Astra template as the foundation for my website. From there, I customized each section to match the structure and style I wanted for my blog.
Throughout the process, I also asked other people for advice whenever I got stuck. Little by little, I became more familiar with WordPress and was able to build a website that met the goals of the project.
What I Learned
This experience taught me that building a website involves much more than publishing content. It also requires planning, organization, and taking the time to understand how the platform works.
Even though it was the most time-consuming stage of the project, it was also one of the most valuable learning experiences.
Reflection
Looking at the final result, I feel proud of the website I was able to build. What I expected to be one of the easiest tasks became the biggest challenge of the project. In the end, overcoming those difficulties helped me gain confidence using WordPress and made the rest of the project much easier.
